See You Elevator

Isn't it so strange riding the elevator with, well... strangers.

It makes me smile. Riding a tiny cell with people that you usually don't (want to) know, or worse, know of, or have seen around, but not enough to start talking about your plans to buy a cableknit oversized jumper on the weekend. I work in a rather large office and am quite new - so even riding the lift with the people I work closer with can still be a little awkward.

I don’t mind awkward moments though, they make me giggle. Those manageable insecure moments that I find a little amusing - with a possibility of going any which way, all whilst going only up or down.

Standing across from a person you've met once or twice in a wee box - they're avoiding eye contact - You're trying to make eye contact.. People pull out their phones, when we all know you can't get service in the lift - the big sighs, unsteady feet, fiddling of the access passes.

Then you've got the people that come in and say something along the lines of 'ahh, is it Friday yet?'… you giggle. All you really want to say is 'no, you wanker, it's Tuesday, you say this every time I see you…' but you refrain from being a complete and utter shit. Instead, you just give a polite laugh, which turns into an uneasy smile - Cue sigh.

The uplifting lifting between 50 floors <3>
